Owen and I made it!

So, Owen and I are in California safe and sound. The plane rides were, very stressful, I'm trying not to complain and just be thankful that we were able to come out. But...Owen was a typical 9 month old not wanting to sit on my lap and I really do not blame him it's a long flight! I just can't tell you when I will want to do that again, well I guess I will have to do it in 2 weeks!

We are having sooo much fun with my sister, her husband Joel, and their boys Kyle (11) and Jake (9) They love Owen and the feeling is VERY mutual. My sister has been taking ssuch good care of me. I am tired and coughing up a lung so she has been more than willing to grab him out bed and cozy him and change diapers and feed him. Uncle Joel has been very good too. He took him out in the garage today and they swept and hosed out down the driveway together. So sweet!!! My dad came over last night for some tasty tacos and fajitas and had good playtime with him. Very very precious. Grandma gets here tomorrow (she's at a conference) and that will be lot's of fun!!! yay for family!

Getting excited for California!

My growing 9 month old!

I took Owen in for his 9 month old check up this morning. I am happy to report that he is doing so much better than he was last week. Dr. Matthew's gave us the okay to fly to California and says he is looking, and sounding much better! I would like to thank all our friends and family who prayed and counseled me through Owen being sick last week! Also, to those who fed us and came over and let me rest---you are AMAZING!! Man, it's hard being a mom of a sick baby, then getting sick yourself and then your husband getting sick and having to take care of him! We were not having the best week last week, but things are better already this Monday morning and we are very excited to see friends and family in California in just a few short days!!!

His stats:
Weight: 18lbs 13oz
Height: 28 3/4 inches (he is SO long and SKINNY!)

Doc says Owen is growing just fine and is a very healthy boy. His development is right on is further along than alot of 9 month olds. We are going to practice the sippy cup, and more real food in the next few months!

Leaving Owen for the first time

Joe and I have had such a wonderful time this past weekend. A time of reconnection, not that we ever disconnected, but I think the busyness of ever day life tends cloud over taking care of nurturing each other. But, more on all of that in another post, with a lot of pictures!

Joe and I are SO incredibly blessed! We are blessed with people who have provided an awesome place for us to recharge, reconnect, and prepare are hearts as he is getting ready to leave to go to Africa and me to California with Owen. We are also so very blessed to have people in our lives who we completly trust leaving Owen with. We left Owen in some very experienced and loving hands. He stayed with our friends Alan and Sherry. They have four kids: Brooklyn 17, Lauren, 14, Morgan 10, and Michael 7. Owen is in kid HEAVEN-Oh, how he loves kids! My heart was also comforted all weekend knowing how loving and calm Sherry is. I knew that if Owen was having a hard time she would love on him and take him somewhere quiet and everything would be okay. As I drove away from leaving my baby, I was sad, but I was also looking so forward to spending time with my husband. The Lord calmed my heart and I only called twice while we were away! We are leaving this great place in a few minutes, but I cannot wait to see my sweet boy and kiss his checks and have cozy time in bed with him!

Trunk OR Treat

Our family had a great time this year at Trunk OR Treat. It was the first year we had a kid! Although, he just hung out in the stroller-and behaved very nicely I have to say-it was still fun! I have to say I think I am a bit bias and think he was the cutest kid there and the cutest frog EVER! It was fun seeing all out friends dress up, and seeing all their kids dress up too. Note to self...Joe and I will dress up next year! Here are a few pictures of our night....

Smyrna Fall Festival

Two weekends ago me, Joe, Owen, our friend Summer and her baby Olivia went to the Smyrna Fall Festival. It was a good time and as you can see me and Summer enjoyed some YUMMY funnel cake together...tasty!
